From the Galesburg Register Mail, published 16 Aug. 1988:

Gerald B. Quanstrom, 72, Galva, died today at 4:57 a.m. in St. Mary's Hospital, Galesburg.

He was born in Altona on March 11, 1916. He was the son of Bernard and Helga Lundholm Quanstrom. He married Gladys Youngstrom in Chicago on Aug. 1, 1945.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Donald B. Quanstrom, Galva; one daughter, Kathleen Empson, Kewanee; one brother, James Quanstrom, Galesburg; one sister, June Nickas, Altona, and six grandchildren.

He was graduated from Altona High School in 1934. He worked at the Galva Creamery for 12 years, and was a Prudential insurance agent for 16 years, retirng in August 1976. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Galva, American Legion Post 45 of Galva, Voiture 433 40 & 8 Club of Annawan, and was on the board of the Lake Calhoun Country Club, LaFayette, for many years. He served in the Army in World War II for 44 months.

Funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Schuster Funeral Chapel, Galva, the Rev. K. Belmont Metzger officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Galva American Legion Post Fusiliers.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Galva, the family said.
